Winter is almost here, but one in three motorists has delayed servicing their car due to the high price of car maintenance. The need for saving money is putting British drivers at risk.
When the amount of disposable money is tight, consumers cut back on some expenses. However, cutting on essential needs such as car maintenance could lead British motorists to be at risk.
In order to save money on their car maintenance costs, one in five Brits have put off changing bald tyres and one in three have delayed servicing their car, even though winter is almost here and it signals poorer weather conditions that could put drivers' lives at serious risk.
These are some of the conclusions that reached Carrentals.co.uk after surveying more than 2,300 motorists.
"The survey highlighted just how many people are now trying to cut back on their expenditure,” said Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk.
"While for many having a car is vital for their daily life, they are increasingly looking for ways to cut back the costs associated with driving, be that safe changes such as buying a more economical vehicle, or the more dangerous cuts in maintenance. Safety has to be paramount, so we would ask anyone needing to save money to think carefully about where and how they cut their expenses.”

Furthermore, the study found that 60% of drivers said that they didn't get their tyres checked in preparation for winter's icy conditions and a further 80% didn't even get their brakes checked because of the costs involved.
Also aiming to save money, a majority of Brits (56%) have switched their car servicing from an authorised dealer to a cheaper garage.
Additionally, over 1 in 10 British drivers have now changed their car insurance from comprehensive to third party to help them pay less. Considering the current economic situation, comparing car hire costs and the cost of car hire insurance is essential to find the most affordable provider.
