Dubrovnik is a popular short break destination but, if you give yourself a few extra days and add in a hire car from Dubrovnik airport then you can get to see so much more. Just a 30 minute drive around the coast is the charming town of Cavtat with its many cafes overlooking the sea. In under two hours you can be in the beautiful country of Montenegro where there is some spectacular scenery.
The airport is a little below 10 miles from Dubrovnik so a rental car is a great way of getting to your accommodation. Although not as busy as Split or Zagreb airport, Dubrovnik sees its fair share of tourist traffic.
Many flights to Dubrovnik are seasonal so fewer airlines offer services during the winter months. If you are travelling there from the UK during December, for example, you may well have to change flights in Zagreb.
Which car hire companies are there at Dubrovnik airport?
Where are the rental cars at Dubrovnik airport?
The rental car area is behind parking garages P2, P3, P4 and P5 which are opposite you as you come out of the arrivals hall of the terminal building. On your return follow the signs for Rental Car Returns. There is a fuel garage at the airport but do bear in mind that it is likely to be more expensive to fill up there. Ideally, fill the tank up somewhere else and only top up the last bit at the airport if necessary.
