London Stansted (STN) is an ever busier airport for both London and the Midlands as pressure increases on the other London Airports. It services mainly European destinations with over 40 low cost, charter and scheduled airlines using the airport.

Whilst a convenient location for public transport if wanting to go directly to London (the Stansted Express operates into Kings Cross), it's not as easy to go elsewhere. This is why London Stansted is one of our most popular car hire locations.

Self drive car hire is available at Stansted Airport through 8 car rental firms located there. Most are located opposite the World Duty Free Shop in the International arrivals hall, although there is one meet and greet company as well.

There are also off site car hire companies at Stansted, who offer a shuttle bus service to their offices. These tend to be cheaper as they avoid the high charges the airport charge to be in terminal.

Whilst it's possible to try to collect a car from Stansted Airport on your arrival, it's normally far cheaper to book car hire at Stansted before you get there and it also ensures your chosen vehicle is available (car hire can be limited at busy times). Do therefore get the best prices by booking your car hire in advance.

Stansted is normally a comfortable airport to travel through, with a good range of shopping on offer. As well as duty free shops within the departures hall there are a number of restaurants and bars.
