Thessaloniki is, after Athens, the second largest city in Greece. It is in the northeast of the country looking out into the Aegean. It is a port with a history which includes, like much of Greece, evidence of its Roman connections. Thessaloniki was devastated by a massive fire in 1917 so much of it has been rebuilt since then.
The airport is located at Mikra to the southeast of Thessaloniki. It can be reached via the A25 motorway and is about half an hour from the city centre.
Flights operate daily to a good number of European destinations and there are direct flights to UK destinations including Manchester, Newcastle and several of the London airports. Airlines operating services include British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair and TUI Airways.
