In some you will find a manned rental desk where you can complete your car hire documentation, and then travel on to collect your car.

In others, such a Terminal 4 (T4), you will be greeted by an unmanned desk for each company - with a phone on it - talk to the company and they will direct you to a bus which will take you to the rental firm's central depot away from the terminal building. Once there it's just the paperwork to check over and then the open road.
