For many people hiring a van is not something they do often. It could be that you are hiring it to move a particularly big item or perhaps to transport a young person and all their worldly goods to university. If you are not used to driving a van then accidents - particularly scrapes and dents - can be more common.
When you hire a van you will usually have the main insurances included but remain liable for an excess amount. With vans this excess amount is often higher than with a rental car. We frequently see excesses of over £2000. By purchasing van hire excess insurance before you pick up your van, you can put in a claim to get your money back should you be charged any of your excess.
Glass and Wheels
The windows, mirrors and tyres are often not covered by your rental insurance so, if you swiped the mirror when parking or got a puncture, you would be responsible for the cost of repairing any damage to these parts. These areas plus the roof and the underbody of the van are covered by all the policies offered by MoneyMaxim.
Lost Keys and Lock Out Cover
Most policies will provide cover should you lose the van keys. If you use the Show Details button after you have run a quote, you will be able to see which companies can help when it comes to lost keys or a lock out. Lock out is when you have locked the keys in the van and require the assistance of a locksmith.
Foreign Travel
There are policies available that offer protection within Europe and slightly further afield. One company through our panel will cover van hires from a number of other countries. Another company can cover hires from the UK into other countries. The van would need to be picked up and returned within the UK and you do need permission from the rental company to take the van out of the country. Please read the terms and conditions to check which countries can be covered.
By using our van hire excess insurance comparison service you can enter your requirements and have suitable quotes shown within seconds. Our additional filters will also help you narrow down your search further is necessary. We have policies that can cover loss of use, garage loan vans and vans hired through a car club.

Van hire excess insurance is only available as a daily policy, There are no annual policies available.
Some of the van hire excess policies have a small excess. While this may not affect your choice of policy, you may want to mindful that smaller claims may not be possible.
