Research from the independent financial research company Defaqto found a massive 43% discount available for those who are a member of Neighbourhood Watch and 64% discounts for approved door and window locks. The research also revealed that 67% of policies offer a no claims discount if you do not make a claim. We have identified nine ways to get a discount and only one of them raising the excess impacts on the actual insurance coverage, said Defaqto Head of Research Brian Brown. There are often a number of ways to reduce the premium without having to compromise on the cover. Discounts were available from 19% of policies via the insurers website, while 85% of insurers offered a discount if both buildings and contents insurance were taken out from the same insurer at the same time. A recent example of a specific offer is the Nationwide Buildings and Contents cover which recently announced 1 days of free insurance if taken out by 5th September 21. Additionally, customers can qualify for an extra 2 days worth of free cover if they choose to buy online.
