How to make the most of our car hire search engine

Finding the best car hire for your trip is not just about getting the lowest price. There is no point in hiring a Fiat 500 only to discover that your family of four and all its baggage won’t actually fit. Or hiring an automatic when you would rather drive a manual car. Do you have a credit card? If you don’t then you need to find a car rental that will accept a debit card as not all of them will.

How to use our car hire search engine

• Enter your pick-up location and click search. You can use the airport code if you know it (eg LHR for Heathrow). Select the correct location from the drop-down list. This will automatically fill in the drop-off location but you can change this by clicking in the drop-off location box

• Let us know your pick-up and drop-off dates and times. Don’t forget to leave time for retrieving your luggage and getting through passport control. On the day, if you are running late, contact your car hire company as soon as you land.

• Then simply fill in your country of residence and the lead driver’s age. The answers to these questions can affect the packages that are available to you.

• Click Search!

Tailor your car hire

We have a number of filters on your results page which you can use to find your ideal rental car deal. These include:

• Free cancellation – Choosing a car hire package with free cancellation gives you the option to cancel and rebook should you find a cheaper deal at a later date.

• Small Deposit – Would you rather not leave a large block on your credit card? If you only have one credit card this may appeal to you.

• Debit Card – There are many people who do not possess a credit card. Clicking this filter will only show companies that are happy to accept a debit card.

• On airport – Would you prefer to reserve a car with a company that is based at the airport rather than take a shuttle bus? If you are arriving late at night or have small children you may wish to check this box.

• Doors – This may be insignificant to some travellers but when you have children and need to install car seats and assist your young people in and out of the car then it may be important to make sure your hire car has easy access to the back seats.

What do your car hire search results show?

Once you have finished tailoring your search you can browse each size category by clicking on ‘Show Results’. To see each car hire offer in more detail, simply use the ‘View’ button.
