Friends visiting from abroad and thinking of sharing your car?
Sharing a car with friends from overseas, check care hire isn't cheaper than changing your insurance
If you're thinking of adding your visitors to your car insurance policy while they visit, consider a couple of alternatives before amending your policy.
The first is for them to take out a short term car insurance policy, there are now a number of insurers specialising in this area.
Alternatively, you may find that it's cheaper for them to hire a car instead increasing flexibility and removing any risk of damage to your own car.
Either approach has the advantage that, should the worst happen and your friend has an accident, your no claims bonus won't be at risk – a sure way to test your friendship.
