Apple iPhone 4 is taking back the reigns as it becomes the nation's third favourite mobile phone. Google Android phones however, still hold the top 2 places.
Independent comparison website uSwitch has released this month,s top ten mobile phone list. Their Mobile Tracker ranks the most popular handsets that have been searched for and sold the most.
The March Mobile Tracker list illustrates the strength of Android power as the Google operated smartphones take over 50 per cent of the list. In the top two places are the HTC Desire and the HTC Desire HD as the nation's favourite mobile phones, raising the competition between Apple and Google.
"For the second month in a row Android has taken another big chunk out of Apple, which will be sure to leave a sweet taste in Google's mouth. Maintaining its dominance in the top ten is a clear statement that the search giant won't be loosening its vice-like grip on the mobile market anytime soon, "said Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwtich.
The Apple iPhone 4 struggled to compete in February by not making it even into the top 5, but has reigned it back in by moving up to third place.
Last month the latest phone from Apple was in the 7th spot making it this month's biggest climber. The rise in popularity could be due to the hype surrounding the release of the iPad 2.
March sees a few new entrants onto the list as two Nokia handsets appear in the top ten for the first time. The Motorola FLIPOUT also makes a new entrance taking the 8th place.
"Great phones from Nokia and Motorola are appealing to people who are watching every penny they spend, but still want the best in smartphone functionality. The advertising around Nokia's N8, complete with 12-megapixel camera, should mean we see it hanging around the Top 10 for a while,” commented Doku.
