Sixt Car Hire Insurance for a standard European rental offers Third Party Liability Insurance, Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection for the vehicle. (This may differ for renters from outside Europe). When booking for the Sixt website, CDW and Theft are NOT automatically included. You would need to ensure you have added a Loss Damage Waiver under the 'Protect Your Rental' section. There are sizeable excesses of around €1000 - €2800 for a standard family car.
Sixt offers separate Tyre and Windscreen Protection as well as Interior Protection. Roadside Protection and Personal Accident Protection can also be added to their hires.
As with many car rental companies Sixt do not tend to cover the roof or the underside of the car from their cover. Additionally lost or stolen keys will be charged for.
Some users prefer Sixt policies as no post incident claim is required (this is dealt with at the car hire station on return), rather than having to pay for the cost of an incident and then claiming the cost back from an insurer as is the case with standalone insurance policies. Sixt policies can however work out a lot more expensive.
We suggest running a quotation for standalone insurance through the Moneymaxim car hire insurance comparison service, which will then allow you to make an informed decision
