The main airport serving the capital Kiev otherwise known as Kyiv is Boryspil International Airport (KBP), situated about 18 miles east of the city. The older but much more local Zhuliany airport (IEV) is undergoing a revival and is increasingly competing with Boryspil as the preferred airport.
It doesn't matter which of these or other international airports you choose, MoneyMaxim can offer car hire from these and many other locations across the Ukraine.
UK citizens wanting to hire a car in Ukraine will need to obtain an International Driving Permit and it is advisable to check the foreign office advice on driving conditions.
Car hire usually comes with insurance packages which include collision damage waiver and theft waivers. One thing to note with car hire in the Ukraine is that the third party liability insurance included with car hire is often very limited. Budget has a limit of just over EUR 29,000, Avis $5,000 and SiXT EUR 5,100 for personal injury and just EUR 2,500 for damage to property.
These low limits could leave you under insured and directly liable for compensation in the event of a serious accident that was your fault. We would therefore recommend you investigate car hire excess insurance with Supplementary Liability Insurance which can top up any locally provided insurance up to $1 million. Please note that some insurance policies only allow SLI claims from rentals in the USA, Canada or the Americas. If you hover your mouse button over the company logo of the car hire insurance results pages - we've highlighted which ones have this restriction.
Most car hire excess insurers treat Ukraine as within the territorial bounds of European policies.
