An international driving licence is required for driving in Singapore.
Most cars for hire in Singapore have automatic transmissions.
Collision damage waivers and theft waivers are usually included in car hire but excesses are often high (£1800+ for a compact car). Theft waiver excesses can sometimes be half as much again or twice the level of CDW. Tyres, wheels, underside and windows (which normally includes wing mirrors) will usually be excluded. All of these can be covered by taking out a worldwide car hire excess insurance policy through the MoneyMaxim comparison service
The level of third party cover supplied with car hire in Singapore may be a little low by our standards. We found one local supplier who specified the level of cover offered up to SGD 500,000 or approx £250,000. If you are concerned that the level of cover offered is not adequate for your needs, consider purchasing an SLI (Supplementary Liability Insurance) policy from the MoneyMaxim car hire insurance comparison service. These can top up the level of cover to US $1,000,000. Some SLI policies are limited to the USA, Canada and the Americas so be sure to choose one that offers worldwide cover if you decide to take this additional cover.
